The next appropriate thing to say would be something like “He is risen indeed.”
I totally believe that. But, it drives me nuts when people repeat the whole “He is risen,” then, “He is risen, indeed” thing. I can’t explain it. It just does. Possibly because it sometimes sounds like empty repetition to me. I know, if you mean it, then it doesn’t matter what you say. This is true. When said with sincerity. And that traditions are good. Just add it to the list of nonsensical things that are actually good that make me a bit crazy.
It is pretty awesome that Jesus is risen, though. Really awesome. This was a necessary sacrifice and it is huge in shaping us and our futures. Like risen awesomeness.
Peter sums it up well:
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritancethat can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. 1 Peter 1:3-4
I saw this video the other day. I may have posted it before. I felt like it put the whole Easter thing into perspective if it were a modern event.
