I am Trisha. Some people call me “WikiTrish” and others “Tree.” For some reason, I have always wanted to write a blog. And thus this blog.
I write about things that happen to me on my adventures, things that I feel are important or interesting and likely the occasional randomness. Generally my adventures revolve around a few select themes, namely medicine, family/friends, God, music and books. Expect to see those around.
I am a third year Radiation Oncology resident and therefore, I want to be a Radiation Oncologist when I grow up. I am ridiculously passionate about Palliative Medicine.
I am married to Patrick. We got married the summer between Med 1 and Med 2. We met when I was in my first year of undergrad. He is a teacher of the elementary school variety.
We have a cat named Jeter (like the baseball player… I like to point out that he came with the name.) who I am convinced is certifiably crazy.
We have a baby on the way who should be making an appearance sometime in June 2015. We also have a little one in heaven named Elim who we will meet face to face one day.
Our biologic families live in another province… My family is fairly francophone and small. Patrick’s family is rather large and close knit.
We have numerous lovely and interesting friends that we have gathered along the way that come up on here. Generally under pseudonyms that are not at all creative or grouped into things like “home friends” and “school friends” and such.
I love Jesus. Yes, I said it. Please don’t make that cause you to run away. Jesus is a cool guy. Society doesn’t always make Him seem that way. But He is. He has done a lot to keep me on this journey and is the reason I am where I am today. I will follow Him wherever and whenever.
I am a big nerd.
I am very interested in music. I listen to most everything, I like most of most everything. My memories are generally set to song. Sometimes its like my life is set to song. I play saxophone and flute. I occasionally play handbells. And I once learned to drum. I want to learn to play guitar. I sing.
I also read a lot. Sometimes even things that aren’t school related. I get excited when that happens.
I knit like an old lady. It makes me feel domestic.
Speaking of domestic, I am also obsessed with food. Especially anything with spice… Or vegetables… Or chocolate!
Feel free to comment on my posts. Let me know what you think or if you have had similar experiences. I quite like people.

Thanks for visiting!
Thrilled to have you on board at Looking for God–you may be my first medical doctor (well, almost medical doctor). After reading your site a bit, I feel terrifically lazy. You inspire!
I’m glad to hear Jesus gets top billing in your life.
Blessings to you, will be following…
Thanks for following! And I quite liked Looking for God. Glad to be your first almost medical doctor! Blessings to you too!
Great! now we have at least 3 doctors that have normal lives like the rest of us! God bless and welcome to the group of Jesus lovers!
Hahaha! Thanks for following! Blessings to you too!
Ok let me just say that from a fellow “medical professional” I completely understand the need for the disclaimer. And also it left me giggling. Thank you. And I look forward to reading more about you 🙂
Glad you enjoyed the disclaimer. Thanks for stopping by. And I too look forward to reading more about you!
Good luck with your aspirations in pursuing the field of palliative radiotherapy in oncology! A much needed profession.
It’s lovely to see those who immerse themselves in science based medicine, and concurrently possess spiritual faith that extends far beyond science. Wonderful!
Thank you very much both for the well wishes and for stopping by!
Thanks for visiting my blog. My husband has worked as a medical dosimetrist for more than 25 years, so I’m pretty familiar with the world of radiation oncology. Oh, and I play flute also!
That is fantastic (both the knowing about the world of radiation oncology and also being a fellow flute player)! Thanks for visiting my blog!
Hi, Trisha. I look forward to reading more of your posts! I pray God blesses everything you set your hand to — sounds like that is quite a long list. 🙂 I’m eager to discover the many ways He will shine through your life.

If you ever find yourself in Japan, please let me know, okay?
Haha, thanks. I feel like my life has been very busy and interesting as of late. Its not always quite like this.

Thanks for checking out my fledgling blog! Looking forward to reading yours, I am always intrigued when I meet believers that are medical professionals! Is that Carbonear General in one of your pics?
No problem! It was great. Thanks for checking mine out as well!
It is indeed Carbonear General. How did you know that? Most people don’t even know anywhere beyond St. John’s?
I actually lived in NL (born and raised) for 25 years and have family in Carbonear as well as the south and north sides of Harbour Grace. Spent a lot of summers there!
That is fantastic! It is a beautiful area!

Hi Trisha,
Just wanted you to know that my mom has stage 4 small cell lung cancer. She is just beginning her chemo treatments and is very weak and sick right now. She is 78 years old, but a frail 78. I would appreciate so much if you would pray for her. From reading your blog, I feel a connection with you and also that you are a compassionate person who cares about people suffering with cancer. Your blog is a bright spot and encouragement to me.
Blessings,
Terrie van Baarsel
PS: Feel free to delete this comment. It won’t hurt my feelings at all. I only wanted to ask you to pray for my mom and couldn’t figure out a better way to do it. God bless you, Trisha!
Hi Terrie,
I will be praying for you and your Mom, that you all have strength and peace through this illness and that she will find some relief from her symptoms. Chemo is not an easy thing to go through, but it really does help a lot of people in the long run.
Thank you for the compliment. I always pray that I will be a bright spot in the lives of others.
Take care of yourself and your Mom!
Blessings,
Trisha

Thank you for the like. You have some interesting posts.
Rolain.

Thanks so much for stopping by Gallivance to read Those Bodacious Baltic Beasties. We really enjoyed the Art Nouveau animals and are happy that you did too. And we really like your post on the 10 Older Books. I’ve always been a total sucker for the Nancy Drew series.
All the Best, Terri and James Vance
Thanks for stopping by At Least We Made It This Far… as well.
The art nouveau animals were really interesting to see.
Glad you liked the 10 older books. Nancy Drew is fabulous!
Take care!
Trisha
Thanks for liking my post and best wishes for a successful and fulfilling career in medicine. Marie
Thanks for the best wishes and for stopping by!
My cousin died about two weeks ago. She’d been in palliative care for a week or two. Prior to that I’d never heard of it before. It’s all about “hospice” it seems, and not “palliative” care – it seems there aer places for both. How refreshing to “hear” you say that you love Jesus! I always say that it’s all about people’s views of Jesus – not God, but Jesus. “God” is too nebulus and misunderstood/called by other names…but Jesus is who He is – 100% God and 100% man! Glad to meet someone who believes that in the blogging world. Thanks tons for stopping by my blog!
Sorry to hear about your cousin, but glad you learned a bit about Palliative Medicine.
Thanks for stopping by and commenting!
Trisha, Would you consider a post explaining exactly what palliative medicine is and how it differs from Hospice? Or, perhaps you already have done so and I missed the post. In that case, maybe you could give me the link?
Thanks!
Terrie
I might do something like that sometime in the near future. Hospice and Palliative care are fairly similar and somewhat interchangeable, but there are subtle differences. I will see what I can do!
Trisha
