I write about things that happen to me on my adventures, things that I feel are important or interesting and likely the occasional randomness. Generally my adventures revolve around a few select themes, namely medicine, family/friends, God, music and books. Expect to see those around.
I am a third year Radiation Oncology resident and therefore, I want to be a Radiation Oncologist when I grow up. I am ridiculously passionate about Palliative Medicine.
I am married to Patrick. We got married the summer between Med 1 and Med 2. We met when I was in my first year of undergrad. He is a teacher of the elementary school variety.
We have a cat named Jeter (like the baseball player… I like to point out that he came with the name.) who I am convinced is certifiably crazy.
We have a baby on the way who should be making an appearance sometime in June 2015. We also have a little one in heaven named Elim who we will meet face to face one day.
Our biologic families live in another province… My family is fairly francophone and small. Patrick’s family is rather large and close knit.
We have numerous lovely and interesting friends that we have gathered along the way that come up on here. Generally under pseudonyms that are not at all creative or grouped into things like “home friends” and “school friends” and such.
I love Jesus. Yes, I said it. Please don’t make that cause you to run away. Jesus is a cool guy. Society doesn’t always make Him seem that way. But He is. He has done a lot to keep me on this journey and is the reason I am where I am today. I will follow Him wherever and whenever.
I am a big nerd.
I am very interested in music. I listen to most everything, I like most of most everything. My memories are generally set to song. Sometimes its like my life is set to song. I play saxophone and flute. I occasionally play handbells. And I once learned to drum. I want to learn to play guitar. I sing.
I also read a lot. Sometimes even things that aren’t school related. I get excited when that happens.
I knit like an old lady. It makes me feel domestic.
Speaking of domestic, I am also obsessed with food. Especially anything with spice… Or vegetables… Or chocolate!
Feel free to comment on my posts. Let me know what you think or if you have had similar experiences. I quite like people.
Disclaimer #1: This is not a medical website. What I say does not replace a trained health care professional with face-to-face contact. Please go talk to your physician/pharmacist/nurse practitioner/nurse, etc. That is what they get paid for.
Disclaimer #2: I intentionally do not include the names of people to protect their privacy. I have changed the location, age and other identifying information of any interesting cases I present or mention. I feel confidentiality is of the utmost importance and my practice of writing about encounters with thus be limited to anecdotes or bits of stories. I value the learning from the experiences, but do not want to release anything of harm. Please let me know if you think I committed an error in doing so, for everyone’s sake.
